The Good LIFE – Jun 2024

LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly), supports older adults with the services they need to live safely and independently in their own homes. With four Centers located in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence counties, LIFE provides participants with comprehensive medical care, prescription coverage, transportation, in-home services like light housekeeping, as well as therapy, adult daycare, and social activities.

The LIFE Programs across various counties have been bustling with activity and events, celebrating the dedication of staff and the joy of community engagement. In a collective show of appreciation, the transportation drivers who tirelessly log over 40,000 miles monthly were honored for their essential role in ensuring participants’ safe travels. LIFE Armstrong County celebrated CNA Week, highlighting the invaluable contributions of their compassionate CNAs. LIFE Beaver County marked National Dairy Month with a delightful “Tastes of Dairy” program, offering participants a chance to savor and learn about different cheeses and yogurt-based desserts. Meanwhile, LIFE Butler County hosted a joyful Ice Cream Social, bringing together participants and staff for a sweet and memorable time. Lastly, LIFE Lawrence County’s Patriotic Father’s Day celebration filled the center with red, white, and blue festivities, featuring a delicious lunch and fun-filled activities that left everyone with smiles and fond memories.

LIFE Beaver County Celebrates National Dairy Month with Tasty Program

In celebration of National Dairy Month, LIFE Beaver County hosted a delightful and educational “Tastes of Dairy” program for its participants. The event, organized by Registered Dietitian Brandy Richards and Diet Technician Kathy Welsh, provided an engaging opportunity for participants to explore the world of dairy products.

Participants enjoyed sampling a variety of cheeses, challenging their palates by guessing different types. The interactive cheese-tasting session not only introduced them to new flavors but also highlighted the nutritional benefits of incorporating dairy into their diets.

To beat the summer heat, the program concluded with a refreshing and healthy dessert made with yogurt. This cool treat served as a delicious reminder of the versatility and benefits of dairy products.

Ice Cream Social Brings Sweet Moments to LIFE Butler County

LIFE Butler County hosted a delightful Ice Cream Social this past week, bringing joy and sweet treats to participants and staff alike. The event featured a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings, allowing everyone to create their perfect sundae.

Participants gathered to enjoy their ice cream, share stories, and connect in a fun and relaxed setting. The social was a hit, with smiles and laughter filling the room as everyone indulged in their favorite frozen treats.

 


LIFE Lawrence County

Stars, Stripes, and Smiles: LIFE Lawrence County’s Patriotic Father’s Day

LIFE Lawrence County honored Father’s Day with a vibrant Red, White, and Blue celebration that brought joy and festivity to participants. The day was filled with delicious food and special moments for all the men at the center.

The celebration featured a hearty lunch of pork chops that were a hit among everyone. The day’s festivities concluded on a sweet note with refreshing root beer floats, much to the delight of the participants.

One of the highlights was the excitement when participants received big drinking cups filled with an assortment of snacks.

“Seeing everyone enjoy themselves is always so touching,” said Riley Stutz, LIFE Lawrence Recreational Therapist. “It was wonderful to see everyone come together and enjoy such a special day of celebration.”
