The Commons at Stonebrook Village Celebrates Pittsburgh’s Musical Legends

The Commons at Stonebrook Village hosted a special event celebrating Pittsburgh’s musical heritage, featuring storyteller Gail Griffith. Music is Griffith’s passion, and she took the audience on a nostalgic journey through the lives of Pittsburgh’s legendary musicians, such as Gene Kelly, Pery Como and Henry Mancini (of “Pink Panther” theme song fame) to newer stars like Christina Aguilera, Jackie Evancho, and Gabby Barrett.

Griffith led a fun game of “Name That Tune” and also challenged everyone to a fun sing-along of classics, including Bobby Vinton’s timeless “Roses are Red.” The event brought back cherished memories, with attendees reminiscing about attending concerts by these icons. One special guest even shared they had been to one of Jimmy Beaumont and The Skyliners’ final performances.

To close out the nostalgia trip, Griffith showcased her own talent by performing a song she had sung at a young age, leaving the audience amazed by her voice.

The Commons at Stonebrook Village extends its heartfelt thanks to Gail for her four engaging Speaker Series presentations and eagerly looks forward to welcoming her back again soon!
