Overbrook Pointe’s ‘Rockin’ into Summer’ Party Thrills Resident

Overbrook Pointe’s ‘Rockin’ into Summer’ party event hit all the right notes, bringing together over 40 residents and guests for a day of music and fun. Musician Patrick Heiserman, dazzled the crowd with his incredible guitar skills with a playlist that featured many crowd-pleasers.

Heiserman’s set list featured such songs like “Lil’ Red Riding Hood” and “Stray Cat Strut”, which had everyone joining in on certain parts of the songs. The grand finale came with a special request from the crowd – “Nights in White Satin” by The Moody Blues. Heiserman’s soulful rendition left him with a well-deserved ovation.

Partygoers indulged in popcorn, chips, and a variety of cookies, some creatively shaped like watermelons. Attendees also enjoyed posing for photos with quirky summer-themed sunglasses.

“Patrick’s performance was absolutely phenomenal, and we are so grateful to him for making this day special,” said Ashley Treadway, St. John Community Regional Marketing Manager. “A big thank you to all our residents and guests for showing up and making this a truly successful ‘Rockin’ into Summer’ party. We have such a great sense of community here at Overbrook Pointe.”

 

Overbrook Pointe’s Inaugural Speaker Series ‘Butterflies 101’ Enlightens and Delights Residents and Guests

Overbrook Pointe, the vibrant independent living community of St. John Community, hosted its inaugural Speaker Series event titled “Butterflies 101”. The event featured Julie Travaglini, the senior director of education and curriculum at Allegheny Land Trust, who delivered an insightful presentation covering everything from the intricate details of butterfly wings to the vital roles butterflies play in our ecosystem, along with a focus on the diverse array of butterfly species found in Pennsylvania.

Over 20 residents and prospective residents attended the wonderful presentation. Ashley Treadway, Regional Marketing Manager for St. John Community, expressed her delight at the success of the event.

“We are thrilled by the positive reception to our first Speaker Series event, ‘Butterflies 101’,” said Treadway. “It was truly enjoyable to witness residents and prospective guests alike learn about the fascinating world of butterflies. We’re incredibly thankful for our residents and their welcoming embrace of prospective guests. At Overbrook Pointe, we pride ourselves on fostering a sense of community where everyone feels like they’re part of one big family.”

 

St. John Community Residents Pittsburgh Pirates Game

Residents of the St. John Community were treated to a memorable day out as they recently attended a thrilling Pittsburgh Pirates game against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park. The highlight of the outing was watching the Pirates’ rookie sensation pitcher, Paul Skenes, take the mound.

They indulged in ballpark classics like peanuts and Cracker Jack. During the 7th inning stretch, everyone enthusiastically joined in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” reveling in the nostalgic lyrics about the very snacks they were enjoying.

Despite the excitement, the game ended on a sad note for Pirates fans as the team fell to the Giants.

“Even though the Pirates didn’t win, we had an amazing time,” said Michaela Sutherland, Activity Director for St. John Community.

 

St. John Community Celebrates Memorial Day with a Joyful Picnic

Under the warm sun, more than 130 residents of St. John Community came together for a Memorial Day picnic. The menu was a hit, featuring favorites like burgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, baked beans, and watermelon, all washed down with refreshing lemonade and iced tea. The smiles and conversations were plenty as everyone enjoyed themselves and the great weather.

“It’s so nice being in the sunshine and outside,” said resident Nancy. “Getting to spend time with my friends and making new ones is the best.”

Samantha Rapuk, Executive Director for St. John Community, expressed her deep appreciation for the team’s efforts in organizing the picnic. “The team worked tirelessly to make sure every resident had a wonderful time and enjoyed their meal. Their dedication and hard work truly made this day special for everyone. I am incredibly grateful for everyone’s commitment to creating such a memorable experience for our community on this beautiful day.”
