Lutheran SeniorLife Supports Southwestern PA Synod Assembly

Lutheran SeniorLife is proud to support the mission and partner with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Lutheran Synod at this year’s Synod Assembly held at California University of PA. The assembly, held annually, is a vital event for the Lutheran community to discuss and shape the future of Lutheran ministry and mission affecting 143 congregations across 10 counties in southwest Pennsylvania.

“The event is an opportunity for pastors and lay people within the church to gather and to look at ministry and mission,” explained Pastor Paul Payerchin, a resident of Passavant Community and attendee of the assembly.

Brandon James, a former Vice President of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod and former secretary of the board for Lutheran SeniorLife, also attended the assembly as a voting lay member. He emphasized the assembly’s broader significance:

“The Synod assembly is important for many reasons, one being we are part of a large Christian community. The Synod is important to organizations like Lutheran SeniorLife, who look to the Synod for support, and that’s not just the organization, but the people within it.”

Lutheran SeniorLife’s support for the Synod’s mission, reflects its commitment to the broader Christian community and to the individuals and families it serves. The decisions made at this assembly will impact the direction and support of numerous congregations and affiliated social ministry organizations, ensuring continued growth and service across the region.
