Passavant Nurse Receives Caregiver of the Year Award
Congratulations to Debbie McMurdy, independent living case manager at Passavant Community, who has received the LeadingAge PA Licensed Caregiver of the Year Award.
This award recognizes licensed staff who provide excellent clinical care to their residents, while demonstrating leadership and a commitment to the field of long-term care nursing.
“I am very honored to receive this award, but there are many other staff members who should also be recognized,” McMurdy said.
McMurdy has been employed at Lutheran SeniorLife for 23 years. In her current role, she coordinates and provides clinical support for the residential living residents at Passavant Community, while also coordinating the campus infection control program.
Laura Roy, executive director of Passavant Community said, “I can’t think of anyone who is more deserving of the LeadingAge PA Licensed Caregiver of the Year Award other than Debbie McMurdy. She is humble, dedicated and one of the most compassionate individuals I know. There is a unanimous voice from the entire campus – residents and staff alike – that we do not hold a candle to her giving. Residents who have been touched by Debbie’s tender care and clinical excellence have said, ‘Debbie saved my life,’ ‘Debbie is an angel,’ and ‘I trust her.’ We couldn’t be more proud of her!”
LeadingAge PA is a trade association representing Pennsylvania not-for-profit organizations that provide housing, healthcare and community services primarily to the elderly. It was established to provide education and a voice of advocacy for non-profit long-term care providers. All of the organizations involved strive to meet the social, physical and spiritual needs of older persons – much the same as Lutheran SeniorLife’s mission of providing an Abundant Life® to those we serve.
