Holiday Grief: Embracing the Season

Holiday Grief: Embracing the Season is a community outreach program for those facing the holiday season after a loss. Please join Lutheran SeniorLife’s VNA Hospice as Kelli Connolly, grief recovery specialist and medical social worker, leads a 45-minute presentation which will include a remembrance ceremony and light refreshments. There is no fee to attend but we please ask that you make your reservation according to the location's phone number below.

Caregiver Support Group Session #2

When: Thursday, October 25, 2018 -
5:00pm to 6:30pm
Where: 650 Cherrington Pkwy. Moon Township, PA 15108

Valley Care Adult Day Services understands that before caregivers can offer their compassionate services to others, they must first take care of themselves. As a caregiver, this means taking full responsibility for your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. 

Valley Care in Moon Township will touch base on all of these topics and more during their monthly caregiver support group held at their 650 Cherrington Pkwy. location.

Future support group dates are as follows:

• November 29 from 5-6:30 p.m.

• December 13 from 5-6:30 p.m.

Refreshments and senior care will be available for anyone who is interested. During the meeting, caregivers will be invited to sit and learn about educational topics followed by a one-hour discussion led by certified recreational therapists. Please join us in a welcoming setting that encourages the sharing of information while gaining a new perspective on caring for the caregiver themselves.

Food Truck Festival

Valley Care Adult Day Services in Moon Township is hosting a Food Truck Festival Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Four trucks will be participating in the event:

·         Maryland Street Pittsburgh Peddlers

·         Cousins Maine Lobster

·         Pigs in Paradise

·         Doce Taqueria

Whether you enjoy tacos, BBQ, pierogis or even lobster, there’s definitely something for everyone’s palate at this event.

Fall for LIFE Open House

LIFE Butler County’s 10th Anniversary Celebration

Curious about LIFE Butler and how the program can help seniors live a more Abundant Life®? Join us on Oct. 3 from 2-5 p.m. during an open house celebration to learn more about our program and services. Take a tour, meet our participants and talk with staff members as they celebrate 10 years of providing older adults with the support necessary to lead independent lives.

Caregiver Workshop

When: Sunday, September 30, 2018 -
11:45am to 2:00pm
Where: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Old Clairton Rd, Pittsburgh (Pleasant Hills) PA 15236

This 2-hour workshop is perfect for anyone in the "sandwich generation," who is caring for parents while also tending to kids, grandkids, and/or facing your own concerns about aging.

Topics to be covered:

  • Care Options for Older Adults
  • Preparing for the Future
  • Care for the Caregiver

Lunch will be served beginning at 11:45am.

There is no charge for the luncheon or workshop, which are being presented by Lutheran SeniorLife and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church; however, registration is required.

A Taste of Life at Overbrook Pointe

Overbrook Pointe will celebrate five years of providing seniors with residential living opportunities during an open house event on Sept. 20 and we would love for you to attend!

From 3-7 p.m. the public is welcome to join us at 1500 Graham Way in Mars for a fun evening showcasing the culture, talents and lifestyle of Overbook Pointe.

Please come and enjoy a bite to eat while you mingle with the featured residents and browse their amazing exhibits. There will even be a 1960s style DJ spinning vinyl records. You know as well as we do that life at Overbrook Pointe has a lot to offer and everyone deserves a taste.

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Beyond Memories: Community Celebration of Life and Butterfly Release

Due to many unforeseen reasons, we have made the decision to cancel the butterfly release scheduled for today. 

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. 

If you would like to pick up your butterfly to release on your own, you can pick them up at Preston Park or The Old Meridian Elementary School (135 Sparks Avenue, Meridian Pa.) where staff will assist you between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.

Butterflies can also be picked up from 12:30 - 2:30 P.M at the VNA Hospice Office (154 Hindman Road, Butler Pa.)

If you would rather we release the butterfly for you, we can do so and send you the program with your loved one’s name in the mail to the address we have on file.

Family Fun Day

Elder Law Educational Workshop

The presentation will start off with a brief overview of the Valley Care program and move into covering some of the most frequently asked questions. Forever Young Walk/Run

When: Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 10:00amWhere: Irvine Park Gazebo, 799 Corporation Street, Beaver, PA 15009

Help support the Center at the Mall by participating in the Forever Young 1 Mile & 5K Family Walk/Run. The 5K begins at 10:00am, and the 1-mile will follow at 10:05am.

Register online by clicking here or stop by the Center - located inside the Beaver Valley Mall - for a registration form.

Early registration (by June 2nd) = $15

Pre-registration (by June 22nd) = $20

Event Day registration = $25

5K includes cash prizes for the overall top male and female finishers and awards for top 3 finishers in all age groups.

Health & Wellness Fair

You and your family and friends of all ages are invited to SPRING into better health at this health & wellness fair featuring a variety of health screenings and more than 20 interactive vendor exhibits on topics such as:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Personal Fitness
  • Disease Management
  • Caregiving
  • Home Safety
  • Healthy Aging

At 10:30am, 11:00am, and 11:30am, you can also drop in on a guest speaker presenting information on timely subjects like “Care Options for Seniors.”

This FREE event, presented by Valley Care Adult Day Services and St. Andrew Lutheran Church, includes all vendor exhibits, guest speakers, multiple door prizes, and refreshments!

VNA Friendship Luncheon

Where: Butler Country Club

Please join us at the annual VNA, Western PA Friendship Luncheon. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. to give you plenty of time to share with friends, browse our vendor tables and participate in the basket raffle. Lunch will be served at noon. Tickets are $40 per person. Proceeds benefit the VNA Charitable Care Fund. RSVPs are required by May 4 by calling (724) 453-6014.
